Introduction

Kanto chemical has production equipment of original high purity alkali products, and pellet type of "sodium hydroxide" and "potassium hydroxide" are supplied worldwide. In Japan, Kanto chemical has only one advanced alkali manufacture technology and mass-production equipments, which don't make others emulate. We have lined up wide variety of products, such as guaranteed and extra pure grade reagent, high purity products extremely reduced metal impurities to fully meet our customers requirements.

The manufacturing process of alkali products

Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide are manufactured by electrolysis of sodium chloride and potassium chloride, respectively. Although there are a "mercury method", the "diaphragm method", and an "ion-exchange membrane method" in the method of electrolysis, but taking the opportunity of outbreak of Minamata disease, the mercury method was abolished in Japan in 1987, them the production procedure in being replaced with diaphragm or ion-exchange membrane method. In our company, various kinds of pellet type alkali products are manufactured by condensing and pelletizing the alkali solution produced by the ion-exchange membrane method.

Feature of pellet type alkali products

The fragile flaked type alkali product in likely to generate powder and it solidifies when absorb moisture due to its large contact area. while small contact area of pellet type alkali product leads to low hygroscopicity, large apparent specific gravity and not bulky. These pelletized products are much superior to the flaked type for handling.

1) High purity potassium hydroxide, granular (for precision analysis, UGR)

The highest quality KOH in produced by condensation and pelletization of KOH solution obtained from electrolysis of highly purified KCL. Various metal impurities are extremely reduced, and especially contamination of sodium is guaranteed to be less than 20 ppm.
These products are widely used in the semiconductor industry as an analytical reagent to measure ultra minute amount.

2) Ultrapur Sodium hydroxide solution / Potassium hydroxide solution, 3 mol/L

This is the super high purity alkali product which guarantees ppt level of various metal impurities and suitable for microanalysis. The PFA bottle container is used in order to minimize contaminations from a container. A clean room or clean bench in needed when handling.
